Love Letter For My Soldier

Fri Dec 14, 2007 at 04:24:28 PM PDT

Love Letter For My Soldier

I sing for you each morning
I pray for you each night
I spend my days atoning
Trying to make things right
I want you to come back to me
Safe and sound and whole
I want you to come back with your soul

Promise me you never did me wrong
While you were away
Promise me you didn’t fall from grace
Promise me you never strayed
Promise me you never raped a child
Promise me you never stoled
Promise me you never tortured
Promise me you kept your soul

I sing for you each morning
I ache for you each night
I spend my days atoning
I pray you’ll be all right

Please come home to me my soldier
Please come home
Please come home

Dems held Hostage

"What's that you say, oh yes, of course, bend over and grab my ankles."
"Beg pardon, you need to hear me say, 'I like it this way.' OK, yes indeed."
"Now you want me to say how much I want it. Yes, of course, can I say it louder for you?"
"Cut them off myself? I can do that and would you like them giftwrapped?"
"Rip my self a new one so you can do this all over again? Hey, no problem."
"Thank you, come again."

A little too snarky? Sorry, I'll go to my room now.

Boise State Wins!!!!

I normally do not watch football.  The game does not really interest me and although I know enough to follow along-most games seem boring and mismatched.  Tonight, I understand some of the mystique associated with the game of football, I caught a glimmer of why this is America's game, it's favortie pasttime.  Tonight I watched a game that was truly amazing.

Breeding Scorpions

Tue Oct 10, 2006 at 05:21:40 PM PDT

The picture in my mind's eye was clear, crystal clear.  A proud Islamic soldier shouldering a massive weapon screaming "I have a stinger and I'm not afraid to use it."
So I asked him where he had gotten the stinger.
"Why from you, of course."
"And you know who I am?"
"You are the mother, the mother of all mothers, giving birth to me, a new species of desert dweller.  You have what you selected, a host of militia trained and equipped, then set loose to breed terror throughout Iraq."

Rare Earth

There are heartbeats in our oceans.
The breath of life rides our sky.
We are seed crystal to the stars.
We are rare earth.

Rare Earth
What if we are the only ones?  There are billions and billions of suns to be sure, but what if complex life forms that rise above single cell status are an anomaly, not a conclusion?  Published six years ago, Rare Earth by Donald Brownlee and Peter Ward offered an 'outside the box' explanation of complex life, changes over time and the necessary parameters to sustain life once it has appeared.

Dinner in Amsterdam

Sun Jun 25, 2006 at 12:23:57 AM PDT

Away from the main platz, two or three blocks in any direction gets you to the cafes.  Each intersection is flanked on all four corners with outdoor venues, seats for the crowds watching the show as long as you have enough euros to keep up business.  These outer passages, away from motor traffic, flow with pedestrians and bicycles.  Streets are narrow, perfect for strolling musicians, magicians and artists.  Fellow travelers and revelers, some opposite, some diagonal spill into your attention.  It is a party, one long, lovely party and I am enjoying myself.

Iowa
cause the aunts live in places named Keokuk and Grinnell and Kellogg and Attumwa.
'cause sweet corn tastes like sunshine
and tomatoes are a fruit.
'cause jello is both a food group and an art form.
'cause they play serious pinochle and cutthroat dominoes.
'cause your favorite uncle will tell you what war is really like and he doesn't sugar coat or hold back.
'cause he'll tell you that he lived 50 years with a devil of guilt, that he reveled in unspeakable cruelty delivered to another human being.
'cause he left his soul on the battlefield and he knows that there is no glory or honor in the drug death leaves in your veins.
'cause he told you things he could never tell his own children.
'cause he finally sleeps next to his parents, next to your father who carried the same drug in his veins but would never speak, only rage and self destruct.
'cause the debt can never be paid, but there is still a chance to shine light in the world.
'cause the life I have began there.

"I'll get it."
"Yes, can I help you?  Oh, it's you again.  What can you possible want now?"
"Ok. Honey, can you come here a sec?  Mom, Dad, can you come on down here?  Sis, Bud, come over here.  I need you to meet someone."
"What's wrong dear.  What's going on?"
"These gentlemen are from the current administration.  The need us to turn around, bend over and assume the position."

Science Sunday - Massage and Metaphysics

Sun Jan 01, 2006 at 03:07:22 AM PDT

The spinal cord runs from the base of your spine to your hindbrain, the repository of primal memory and the location of your pleasure center.  The link between these two is a series of nanoscopic nerve fibers sending billions of electrical signals from your brain to your body.  At the base of your spine, the nerve endings terminate and there at the base of L-5 sits a bundle. Yoga introduces the idea that pratyama  resides there, a reservoir of energy. Truth or not, as the anatomical data suggests there are seven chakras flowing along your spine: alternative points of intersections corresponding to nerve bundles or interceptions where the energy levels transfer their waves to corresponding or receptive centers.

A Mother's Prayer

Sat Dec 31, 2005 at 07:21:02 PM PDT

In your next life
You won't know sorrow or pain.
You'll never be hungry,
You'll live where it rains.
You won't have to work like a dog for a bone.
In your next life,
You'll have land of your own.
In your next life, you won't be a slave
The first step from your cradle won't be to your grave.
You won't be a pawn in some invisible war.

In your next life....

US Traing Insurgents?

Wed Nov 30, 2005 at 06:59:57 PM PDT

This letter from a Wall Street Journal reporter has never been vetted for publication, but it gives a coherent look at the true situation in Iraq.  I personally asked Congressman Jay Inslee last year when this situation came to light if the reporting was accurate.  Is the US paying trained Iraqi Security Forces to leave service after taxpayers have funded their traing? Congressman Inslee assured me the story was true. Our US tax dollars and our Armed Service personel are  training Iraqi security forces only to pay these same trainees to leave when their loyalities are in question. Are  Iraqis paid to stand up or paid to stand down?  Are our US tax dollars being used to train insurgents who in turn will use their US provided training to fight American soldiers?  Is this an example of "success"?  With Congressman Murtha stating it may be 25 years before we have a functioning Iraqi Security Force, isn't it reasonable to wonder if we are training our enemies?

Wal Mart and Dead Peasants

Fri Jun 03, 2005 at 03:00:41 PM PDT

Wal Mart is one of the many companies that buys life insurance policies on their employees without their consent or knowledge. Euphemistically called Dead Peasant policies, employers are in bed with the insurance companies who provide discounted premiums that pay off big time when an employee dies, sometimes years after the employee has left the company.  Washington state passed a bill this legislative session requiring companies to inform and obtain consent for this practice.  Does your employer have a contract...I mean, policy out on you?

New "Riverbend"...

Tue May 17, 2005 at 10:53:59 PM PDT

For those who are devotees and those who should be, there's a new entry by the intrepid Riverbend detailing events from Baghdad. When it is impossible to believe the reporting from Administration sources and from embedded media, Riverbend's perspectives are a much needed lens focusing on the real Iraq.  Go read her insights if only to discover what nickname Iraqis give Condoleeza "The war came to us" Rice.

Energy Edition

"What's that you say, oh yes, of course, bend over and grab my ankles."
"Beg pardon, you need to hear me say, 'I like it this way.' OK, yes indeed!"
"Now you want me to scream how much I want it. Yes,  oh yes, yes! Is that loud enough?"
"Anything else I can do for you?"
"Take this rusty razor blade and cut them off myself? Why of course I can do that and would you like them giftwrapped?"
"Thank you so much, and please don't hesitate to come again."

The Further Adventures of Cojones Dem - Redux

Thu Apr 21, 2005 at 01:54:43 PM PDT

"Hey, Senate Democratic leadership, come on over here a sec.  I need to talk with you."
"And you are?"
"Your party, remember us?"
"Oh, OK, but I only have a mome...arrghhh what the..what do you think you are doing?  Let me go, that hurts!"
"Now that I have your undivided attention, let me tell you what needs to happen.  The energy bill coming up for a vote does not pass, (giving a little twist here) you got that. It is the epitome of the worst kind of legislation, full of pork, add-ons and corporate paybacks.  It does not measure up to environmental concerns. It does not address any security issues, it does not address our true energy needs, it is sombiage*, pure and simple.  You filibuster til your blue, you read every page of this bill into the record, you listen at every keyhole, you shine light in every corner, you pull out all the stops.  It does not pass.  Do we understand each other?" (Giving another tiny, little twist)
"Yes..yes, I hear you!  I understand!"
"Good. (letting go) And by the way, you got a nice little package there, honey, don't be afraid to use it!"

sombiage: some big f&#ing garbage

Gannon Gets Bitchslapped...

Sun Feb 13, 2005 at 07:19:00 PM PDT

This week's edition of On the Media closed with a story on the Jeff Gannon/James Guckert  expose.  Go listen to a well constructed smackdown of JG's whining.  On the Media kept the story crackling and to the point, that bipartisan softballs are not journalism.  After all the MSM's feigned outrage it was refreshing to hear someone point out the obvious.  "How does someone get a day press pass for two years under an assumed name?"  Do your heart good and give this a listen.  Transcripts available Wednesday.
